There are many dumbbell exercise charts out there but let me tell you what you should look for when purchasing a workout chart.  When looking for a chart make sure it includes the following:

1. Detailed Instruction of movements.

You can’t always see how to perform a movement by looking at pictures so make sure the chart actually tells you what to do from start to finish.  Should you start with arm pronated or supinated?  How far down or up should you lift the weight?  A dumbbell workout has a lot of allowed movement, so make sure the dumbbell exercise chart is very specific in it’s details.

2. Illustrations:
Make sure that you can see what the movements are supposed to look like.  We have all heard the saying that a picture is worth a thousand words and this holds true with dumbbell workout charts.  You need to see the start position and ending position of each lift.  Actual pictures of people performing the lifts are better than drawings or stick figures.

3. A Manual along with a chart:
You want to not only have a chart with the exercises on it but you also need a manual that goes into more description.  You need to know how many sets of each exercise to do and how many reps in each set.  Also look for charts that include the amount of time to rest in between each set.  Combining a manual with a chart will give you all the tools you need to create great workouts for yourself without needing to go to t a gym or hire a trainer.
