Dumbbell Bicep Workouts aren’t just for gaining muscle mass in your arms. Dumbbell exercises can also be used for toning and increasing muscle definition. The following exercises are simple to perform and will help train your biceps.

The Basic Curl

As it says in its name this is the basic bicep curl exercise. You start with the dumbbells resting in your arms hanging straight down from your body. Then you raise and curl the dumbbell all the way up to your shoulder, then as you are lowering your bicep you raise your opposite hand so you are doing both of your arms with this exercise.

The Preacher’s Curl

Using a regular preacher bench, hold a dumbbell in your hand with an underhand grip. Lock your elbow into place against the preacher pad and then slowly curl the dumbbell upwards in order to touch your shoulder, then return to the starting position and repeat.

Concetration Curl

Sit on the end of a workout bench. Position your legs so they are shoulder width apart. Place the back of your upper left arm against the inside of your thigh and your right hand on your knee for support. Start the exercise with your arm straight and curl it up as far as it will go. Then slowly return to the starting position and repeat.

When you are performing bicep dumbbell exercises you will want to put on a heavy weight and do a small number of reps if you are looking to build your arm muscles. If you are looking to tone your arm muscles then you will need to use a lighter weight and do more reps.
