Adjustable Dumbbells
A few months ago, I decided to start on an exercise regimen to help me with weight loss. I hired a fitness instructor who soon told me that aside from aerobic or cardio exercise, I also needed to engage in weight training. Initially, I started using weights in gyms and fitness centers but I wanted to be able to work out at home too, especially because I work most of the day and the most convenient time for me to exercise is early in the morning right before work.
I wanted to get dumbbells that would help me tone my arms and also make me look a little more buff, aside from helping me lose weight. I searched online for fitness equipment and came across different types of weights. Fixed weights, such as the hexagon solid dumbbell weight set, seemed like they took up a lot of space in my rather small home, especially because I knew that a single hex dumbbell set would have been insufficient for the kind of workout I wanted. I then came across adjustable dumbbell sets, which seemed to make sense to me. Adjustable dumbbells seemed to replace an entire set of different hex dumbbells, so I took the plunge and purchased the Jillian Michaels ultimate 25 lb. speedweight set of dumbbells. I purchased mine for about $75, but prices may vary between stores.
With the Jillian Michaels Ultimate 25 lb. speedweight set of dumbbells, you can adjust the weight from 2.5 lbs to 12.5 lbs per dumbbell. Both Jillian Michaels Ultimate 25 lb adjustable dumbbells come in a storage tray. There is also an added bonus of an exercise chart. Their handles come in a soft grip design, which makes them comfortable and safe to use. The weight plates of these dumbbells are made of solid cast iron, which makes them durable.
This is different from the Jillian Michaels Ultimate 25 pound Adjustable Speed dumbbell, which is actually a single dumbbell and has a maximum weight of 25 lbs. The Speedweight set of dumbbells from the Jillian Michaels line is actually a pair of dumbbells with a maximum weight of 12.5 lbs per dumbbell.
Adjustable dumbbells actually help you save space because they can replace many pairs of dumbbells. For instance, instead of having a whole rack of different hexagon dumbbells taking up a corner in your room, you can do away with the Jillian Michaels Ultimate 25 pound speedweight dumbbells which you can keep under your bed after use. Because it has a storage tray, you can also take it with you everywhere you go, making these dumbbells quite handy and portable. This is important especially when you’re trying to compete in athletic events and you need your weights with you for practice and exercises even during travel.
I purchased the Jillian Michaels 25 pound Speedweight adjustable dumbbells because I needed a lot of lighter weight dumbbells but I don’t really need anything more than ten pounds. However, if you need more resistance, like up to 100 pounds, there are other adjustable dumbbells that can be adjusted all the way up to 100 lbs. They will cost a lot and you will have to cough up a lot of money all at once, but it does mean a lot of savings if you’re actually serious about weights and you need different sets of weights from ten to one hundred pounds.
I’m quite happy with my Jillian Michaels 25 pound Speedweight adjustable dumbbells. So far, it has served me well and I recommend it.
